Ilan Cohen, M.D., Director of The Fifth Avenue Eye Center
Having performed thousands of successful laser procedures, Dr. Ilan Cohen is recognized today as one of the most preeminent eye surgeons in the nation. He was the first surgeon in the New York City area to perform cutting edge corneal surgery such as the implantable contact lens and the artificial corneal transplant. His innovative surgical techniques have been featured on CBS, CBNC and Fox News, among others. He is a graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and has completed a unique Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship at the renowned Vanderbilt University Hospital.
Dr. Cohen is considered the experts' expert by his colleagues -- he is the doctor consulted on their most challenging cases. He teaches at the American Academy of Ophthalmology, which remains at the forefront of technological and surgical advances for cataract surgery and LASIK surgery. Dr. Cohen's recent book has been widely adapted by LASIK surgeons all around the world.
Safety and reliability are Dr. Cohen's chief concerns. He has devoted his professional life to perfecting innovative surgical techniques that provide added levels of safety that were previously unavailable in such procedures.
Lawrence J. Feit, M.D.
Dr. Feit graduated from the Chicago Medical School in June of 1965 after completing his residency in Ophthalmology in 1969. He opened his own practice in September of 1969 at 28 Throckmorton Lane in Old Bridge, NJ where he has continued to practice for the past thirty three years.
A pioneer in the field of ophthalmology, he specializes in cataract surgery with intraocular lens implant. His first implant was performed in 1974 and he has gone on to perform over five thousand cases since. He also does ophthalmic plastic surgery.
Dr. Feit has been married for thirty seven years, and he has two beautiful daughters. He would be delighted to serve your eye care needs both now and in the future.
Dennis L. Blondo, M.D.
Dr. Blondo began his medical studies at Columbia University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences in New York City. He received his Bachelors degree in Science, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Dr. Blondo went on to Medical School at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. After receiving his Medical degree and graduating with AOA Alpha Omega Alpha honors (Honor Medical Society), he went on to intern with the Maimondes Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
After completing his Residency, Dr. Blondo went on to become a Resident MD, Chief Resident of Ophthalmology, a New York University School Board member, and Holmdel Board of Education Member. Currently he is also a member of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Contemporary Ophthalmology.
Dr. Blondo has published multiple articles for medical journals like "The Monthly Exclusive" and continues his 26 years of private practice experience in New Jersey. Dr. Blondo is a family man first and foremost. He is married and is the father of four wonderful children.
Raysa Rodriguez, Practice Manager
Raysa Rodriguez has been working in the medical field for over ten years. She has a simple practice philosophy -- care for patients like they're family. Whether that means being available on her cell phone to answer after-hours questions, or simply calling patients to congratulate them on their birthdays, Raysa is our patients' best resource. Raysa is not only the Practice Manager for the Fifth Avenue Eye Center, but is also a devoted mother with a second child on the way! In her spare time she likes to relax with a good book. She has been happily married for ten years.
Katie Kelly, Communications & Surgical Coordinator
Katie Kelly serves as the Fifth Avenue Eye Center's go-to girl on everything related to communications. Her day-to-day involves anything from helping patients meet their surgical goals to keeping the practice visible in the community. Katie is originally from Colorado and is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder. While she loves the Big City, she is still a Midwestern gal at heart. Katie is a sports fanatic and enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog.
